Leipzig is fantastzig !!

From the figures and information we received, the German canine organisation could well be meritoriously rewarded for their kind offer to take over the organisation of this year’s FCI General Assembly and World Dog Show.

The dishes on the menu offered in Leipzig are very promising and impressive: that will be the year of all records.

The “Canine Week” in Leipzig will start with the FCI General Assembly to be held on 6-7 November 2017. Around 200 people from approximately 85 countries (all 4 continents) will take part or be represented for the 2-day meeting. Such a massive participation is easily understandable as there will be a substantial and important agenda to discuss: new, transparent and modernised Statutes, election of the FCI President for a 2-year mandate, election of 3 General Committee members for a 4-year term, election of 3 members (4-year) in the Standards and Scientific compulsory commissions. The choice of the venue for the World Dog Shows 2021 and 2022 will also be decided in Leipzig. Four breeds will be up for definitive recognition (making them eligible for the CACIB and the title of International Champion): Cimarrón Uruguayo, Gonczy Polski, Russian Toy and Tornjak. Finally, different members (national canine organisations) will try to get the status of Associate Member or Full Member.

With the record number of 24,692 total entries, from 73 different nations, the World Dog Show taking place from 9–12 November in Leipzig is not just the biggest dog show in the world, but the largest that has ever been held in the history of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).

In addition to the World Dog Show with its 24,692 competitors, the VDH (German canine organisation) is also organising a huge programme including many dog-related activities at the Leipzig Trade Fair. The ball will start rolling on 8 November with the German Winner Show. 6,423 dogs are entered for the show and dog lovers will also be enthralled by various dog sport events.

We do hope to see you all in Leipzig!

Cordially yours,
